Strawberry Freezer Jam 2012
One of the simple joys of life is creating something special with the ones you love. For the last three years Amelia and I have created freezer jam together. She loves it. She loves using her hands to, manipulate the potato masher,to stir the pectin, to spread the first sweet dollop on a warm piece of toast. She is proud of her creation, and I am proud of her. I was just a bystander in this jamming operation, Amelia ran the show.
From the initial picking of the berries, to the washing of the berries (I cut the berries, and measured the ingredients) other than that my 4 year old is a master. And gosh darn it, we are finishing up the last jar tonight. It was a good year, but like all good things they can’t last forever, and do us no good being locked away for a special day. So we have devoured this special jam, and honestly it was best batch yet!
